Dog Vaccinations - where to now?

Background

I have spent the last few years paying close attention to the scientific progress, client feelings and popular press regarding vaccinations in general. I believe that many people are making decisions on vaccinations based on limited information and peer pressure, and in some cases putting themselves or their animals at risk. I have always believed in and followed a yearly vaccination protocol for dogs and cats based on the clinical trials and studies available at the time. With increasing evidence that SOME components of the vaccines give longer duration of immunity, we are now looking to alter these protocols. I believe that a combination of misleading press stories, anecdotal based case histories, a degree of distrust of large pharmaceutical companies and the increasing number of un-reviewed or un-regulated websites have led to an element of misinformation. My goal is to create an environment where clients seek out a veterinary opinion in addition to these other sources of information before making up their minds on how best to proceed for their individual requirements. I am more than happy to discuss any specific queries you may have.
