Michael has done it – he completed the Half Ironman UK event on the 17th June in Exmoor in a highly respectable time of 6h17min. The event consisted of a 1.2mile swim, 56 mile bike and a 13.1mile run taking in the scenic and very hilly countryside surrounding Wimbleball Lake. Not only did Michael manage to fit in training and competing in this endurance event, but he has also managed to raise over £4000 for Leukaemia research.
Michael said “I am so grateful to all those clients and friends who donated to my chosen charities. The huge sum of money raised helped inspire me especially on the run when my legs were really struggling. Will I do it again next year – too soon to say!” Anyone still wishing to donate to Michael’s charities can do so through JustGiving.com – donations accepted until17th August 2007.
Now back at work and taking it easy, Michael does intend to stay fit and compete in other events later this year.
